Krystina Bertoldi is a highly skilled and dedicated mental health professional with a Master’s degree in the field. She is currently working as an Associate Therapist at San Jose Adult House and San Jose Adolescent House, where she provides individual therapy and group therapy to her clients.

Krystina’s passion for the mental health field stems from her interest in psychological processing, human behavior, and thought processes. She is committed to helping her clients navigate through their challenges and achieve their personal goals.

In her free time, Krystina enjoys the warm weather and summertime, as well as spending time with her beloved pets. Her combination of professionalism and personal interests make her a well-rounded therapist who is committed to providing the best care possible to her clients.

Lauren Breslow

Lauren Breslow is a highly qualified and compassionate psychotherapist at the Adolescent House in San Jose. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on Family and Children and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Health.
Throughout her career, Lauren has worked in a variety of agencies including a school-based site, community clinic, private practice, and PHP/IOP level of care. She has extensive experience in leading therapy groups and providing individual therapy to clients.

Lauren is passionate about working in the mental health field because she believes that every person deserves to be heard, supported, and accepted. She understands the challenges that people face and is dedicated to instilling hope, helping clients see the best in themselves, and empowering them to overcome their difficulties.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys traveling and has fond memories of her trip to Italy. She also loves playing board games and is particularly fond of Settlers of Catan, which she finds different and enjoyable every time she plays it.

Nutrition Director

Peyton Cain

Peyton Cain is a highly qualified and dedicated nutrition professional, serving as the Nutrition Director at Cielo House. She is a Registered Dietitian and is responsible for supporting all aspects of nutrition care at the organization.

Peyton provides nutrition counseling to clients, conducts research, and leads ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest quality care. She is an advocate for evidence-based nutrition practices and is dedicated to providing clients and families with the resources they need for sustainable, individualized recovery.

Peyton values collaboration and works closely with other members of the healthcare team to advocate for her patients and achieve better outcomes. Her interests include food sustainability, equitable and accessible healthcare, and empowering people with accurate and actionable nutrition information.

In her free time, Peyton enjoys being outdoors and engaging in activities such as hiking, biking, and rock climbing. She is also passionate about exploring new cultures, trying new foods, and connecting with people from all walks of life.

Katie Cairns

Katie Cairns is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) at Cielo House in San Jose. She specializes in providing individual and group therapy to teens struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.

Katie’s passion for working in the mental health field stems from her own personal experiences and a deep desire to help others. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development and has several years of experience in various clinical settings, including residential, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient.

Katie is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to her clients and is committed to their growth and recovery. Her warm and approachable demeanor makes her a trusted and valued member of the Cielo House team.

In her free time, Katie enjoys exploring her creative side through sewing, crochet, and macrame. She was born and raised in Texas and brings her warm and friendly southern charm to her work every day.

Miranda Esparza

Miranda Esparza is a therapist trainee at Moss Beach location. She provides individual and family therapy and facilitates groups. Miranda believes that everyone struggles with mental health at some point and therapy can be life changing. She feels it is a meaningful experience to be a part of someone’s healing journey. Miranda is set to graduate from SCU with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Miranda lived in Scotland, UK for 8 years and remains in touch with friends she made there who have become family. Hawaii is her favorite vacation spot and she loved exploring and relaxing in Maui with her fiancé.

Megan Hu

Megan Hu is a highly skilled and compassionate registered dietitian at Cielo House in Burlingame. With a passion for learning, Megan has dedicated her career to helping clients struggling with eating disorders and has made a significant impact in the field.

Megan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from UC Davis and went on to complete her dietetic internship and Master of Science degree in Nutrition Science from Viterbo University. Her academic background, combined with her deep passion for the field, has allowed her to excel in her role and provide exceptional care to her clients.

Megan has a unique skill set that sets her apart from others in her field, as she is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. This has allowed her to connect with and provide care to a wider range of clients, including those who are more comfortable speaking in their native language.

In her free time, Megan enjoys playing Gu-Zheng, a traditional Chinese instrument. She has been playing for over 10 years and finds it to be a relaxing and enjoyable hobby. Megan is also a fan of anime and has a collection of anime figures that she is constantly looking to add to.

Founder / Marriage and Family Therapist

Matthew Keck

Dr. Matt Keck is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a passion for helping individuals and families struggling with Eating Disorders. He started his career at a young age as the first male domestic violence crisis counselor in Santa Clara County, which laid the foundation for his dedication to serving the community. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boston College and went on to earn a merit scholarship for his focus on Eating Disorders at the University of San Francisco. Furthering his education, he holds a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Ryokan College. Throughout his career, Dr. Keck has worked on college campuses and community mental health organizations, gaining specialized training in Eating Disorders at the prestigious Stanford University Department of Psychiatry. He founded Cielo House Comprehensive Eating Disorder Treatment in 2009 and has been working tirelessly to bring an end to the struggles of individuals and families with Eating Disorders through the Cielo House clinics. With a wealth of experience and a passion for helping others, Dr. Keck is dedicated to providing the best care possible to those in need.

Meet Megan Knipp, an associate clinical social worker at the Moss Beach location of Cielo House. Megan is a compassionate and dedicated professional who provides individual therapy, family and couples counseling, and leads various group therapy sessions. With a passion for helping individuals find peace with themselves, their body, and their relationship with nourishment, Megan is a guiding light to those seeking support and healing.

Megan holds a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in mental health and trauma from the University of Denver, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Psychology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She also has a certification in Holistic Nutrition from Bauman College, further emphasizing her commitment to providing comprehensive and holistic care to her clients.

In her free time, Megan enjoys taking in the beauty of the world around her and particularly loves the dusk hour, which she finds to be the perfect time to catch a good sunset. With a love for all things nostalgic, Megan wishes that trends like flip phones and mood rings would make a comeback.

Michelle Krause

Michelle Krause is a talented and dedicated therapist at the San Jose adolescent program. With a passion for helping others, Michelle has dedicated her career to providing compassionate and effective therapy to her clients. She obtained her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and has since pursued additional training in a variety of areas, including eating disorders, relational repair, trauma-informed care, and love and sex addiction.

Michelle has a wealth of experience working with adolescents and adults, and has a diverse client base that includes BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and first generation immigrants. Her approach to therapy is attachment-focused, incorporating elements of EMDR and multiple modalities to create a truly holistic and individualized experience for her clients.

One of Michelle’s greatest joys is spreading happiness and joy to others, and she incorporates this passion into her therapy practice. Her clients can expect to feel heard, understood, and supported in their journey towards healing and self-discovery.

Amy Laus

Amy Laus is a passionate and dedicated Registered Dietitian at the Adolescent and Teen House in San Jose. With a strong commitment to helping clients repair their relationship with food, Amy has found her calling in the mental health field. She recognizes the important role that nutrition plays in overall health and wellness, and works tirelessly to help her clients make positive changes in their eating habits and relationship with food.

Amy received her education and training in clinical nutrition, and has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Her approach to nutrition counseling is evidence-based and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. She is empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive, making her a trusted and valued member of the therapeutic team.

When not working, Amy enjoys the fall season and playing the card game Skip-Bo with friends and family. Her dedication to helping others and her love of nutrition make her an excellent dietician, and clients are sure to benefit from working with her.

Heather Newberry is a highly experienced Registered Dietitian with a Master of Science degree in Nutrition. With a passion for helping others, she is dedicated to providing expert nutritional support and guidance to her clients at the San Jose Adult Outpatient program. With a focus on individualized care, Heather works closely with each client to develop a tailored nutrition plan that fits their unique needs and goals.

In her role, Heather also utilizes her strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with clients, and to create a supportive and healing environment. Whether she’s counseling individuals on healthy eating habits, or helping clients recover from disordered eating, Heather brings a positive and nurturing approach to her work.

When she’s not at the clinic, Heather loves to spend time with her dogs, enjoying the peace and beauty of nature, and soaking up the joys of life. Whether it’s a quiet morning with a cup of coffee, or a rejuvenating trip to the mountains, Heather’s positive outlook and infectious energy bring happiness to everyone she encounters.

Kayla Rossell

Meet Dr. Kayla, Clinical Director at Cielo House Adolescent Treatment (CHAT) program in San Jose. With a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, Masters of Arts in Sport Psychology, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Kayla is a seasoned professional in the field of mental health.
Dr. Kayla has a special interest in working with athletes, dancers, and individuals who struggle with performance anxiety and eating disorders. As a former professional athlete, she brings a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges that arise when it comes to the mind and body connection, especially under pressure. This has driven her passion for working with the eating disorder population and helping them heal.

As Clinical Director, Dr. Kayla provides clinical support to staff and clients and facilitates both group and individual therapy sessions. She takes a human-centered approach in her work and is dedicated to providing psychoeducation on the mind and body connection.

When not working, Dr. Kayla enjoys expressing her passion for dance and mental health as a choreographer for NFL, NBA, and collegiate dance teams. She is dedicated to helping her clients heal and find peace in their relationship with their mind and body.

Jamie Saranghilo

Meet Jamie Saranghilo, a Registered Dietitian at the Moss Beach location of Cielo House. Jamie has a passion for food and helping others, which led her to a career in Dietetics. She graduated and completed her Dietetic Internship at San Francisco State University and has gained knowledge about eating disorders and their impact on clients while working as a recovery counselor at Cielo House.

Jamie works with clients to challenge their eating disorders and find creative coping mechanisms for them to use during meal times. She helps clients build better, healthier relationships with food and body image. With her background as a chef for various restaurants, catering companies, and corporations, Jamie has a unique perspective and understanding of the importance of a healthy relationship with food.

In her free time, Jamie loves to engage in hands-on activities such as woodworking, sewing, crafting, and anything that involves using her hands. Her passion and dedication to helping others make her an asset to the team at Cielo House.

Mental Health Counselor

Alessandra Zanassi

Alessandra Zanassi is a highly skilled mental health counselor with a Master’s degree from Northwestern University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. With a background in Psychodynamic therapy and expertise in Integrative Therapy, she is able to provide customized care for her clients. Her extensive training as a Sexual Assault Counselor, along with her experience in working with court-mandated clients and individuals in recovery from Eating Disorders at both residential and outpatient levels, has equipped her with the necessary skills to support clients through difficult times.

Alessandra is particularly interested in trauma, grief, and positive psychology and enjoys working with a diverse range of clients, including individuals, couples, families, and leading group therapy. She is dedicated to improving the quality of care offered in the field of psychology and helping individuals heal and overcome their challenges.
